mesh conference : day 2

May 22, 2008

The mesh conference wrapped up today. Day 2 was just as incredible as yesterday.

I had the opportunity to hear keynote speaker, Lane Merrifield, co-founder of Club Penguin, discuss the growth and success of this children’s online community. I also had the chance to hear Garrett Camp, speak about StumbleUpon’s growth from “3 guys in Calgary”, to it’s recent 75 million dollar acquisition by eBay.

I attended the following panel discussions:

Cultivating Community moderated by Jen Evans with George Tsiolis of Agoracom, Derek Szeto of RedFlagDeals, and Christopher Jackson of Degrassi TV‘s online community.

Building a Brand on the Web moderated by Mark Evans with Rohit Bhargava, author of “Personality Not Included“, Maggie Fox of The Social Media Group and Michael Garrity of CommunityLend.

The Infinite Good: The Economics of Abundance with Mike Masnick of Techdirt.

I’m not blogging my *scribbles* from the sessions I attended, because frankly, I didn’t take many notes. I sat through the sessions in awe, and captivated by the amazing stories and successes of these web entrepreneurs and visionaries. Search Google or Twitter with the tag #mesh08, and you’ll find some amazing blog posts and reviews.

If you have time, check out the videos from meshTV, or download the podcasts from iTunes.

I met some great people at mesh, and made some new Twitter friends too.

Looking forward mesh09!

  2. Glad to *almost* meet you in person, Angela! Next time we’ll have to wear fuchsia hats or something to identify each other. 😉

    Cheers,
    Connie
